Program Outcome 3

Outcome 3: Function under the supervision of a physical therapist in a safe, legal, ethical manner to ensure the safety of patients, self, and others throughout the clinical interaction.

The artifact that I used to demonstrate this outcome is the CPI review from my clinical rotation 1. In this artifact it describes what is needed to get at a certain level and then the CI gives feedback on how the student did during that clinical on that section. My CI wrote in my review, "Jess is very careful to keep my patients safe as a top priority." This artifact shows that I make sure that I am keeping the patients safe during treatment and that if I don't feel like something is safe for a patient I make sure to communicate with the PT or CI. As a PTA it is important to make sure the patient is safe during treatment but to make sure that we as the PTA's are safe as well. This is important for our safety to make sure that we don't get hurt during treatment.

Another thing that is important to keep the patients, self, and others throughout the clinic is to make sure that there is nothing extra laying on the floor or equipment around that could potentially make the patient, myself, or anyone else in the clinic to trip and injure themselves. Safety is a big part of everyday work in the clinic.
